August 18th LAN Party

Postby ThePumaman on Fri Aug 03, 2007 10:00 am

Buenos dias, konnichiwa, and hello, fellow computer enthusiasts! I'm making this thread for someone who should have done it yesterday but didn't because apparently he likes to avoid these boards at any cost.

Nevertheless, I am pleased to propose

A LAN PARTY ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 18TH

Since I missed the last one and now have my new computer, I'm super psyched about this one, and there ain't nothing that can keep me away. Well, maybe except for some terrible accident where a monster rises from the deeps and comes to wreak havoc on the city. But that probably won't happen.

So...can you make it?

I say we play Vegas and deny entrance to anyone without Pixel Shader 3.0.

I'll be there.

I'm out of town, coincidentally in Reno, the poor man's Vegas. Also, do it the weekend after instead (or as well).

Yes, I would be up for Rainbow Blur: Vegas. Get it? I called it blur since it mainly uses blurs as its gimmick. I'm funny.

And to the poster above me: Have fun with your motorcycles, while we're doing REAL man stuff, playing computer games in a dark room!

I'm not manly enough to ride a motorcycle, you're well aware of that. I'll actually be hanging out with all the motorcyclists' girlfriends - one dude, and who knows how many womens. See, the true trick to getting women is to NOT ride! Awesome.

I don't wanna be totally selfish, but this'd be the last LAN Party I can be part of until next year...

So can we pretty please play nice RTS games like Rise of Nations and Age of Mythology and maybe some WoW? :(

That's true. I don't think one has a good chance of picking up girls with his face splattered on the pavement.

I'm not sure about WoW, but I'd be up for some RoN, some AoM, maybe a game of AoE, and perhaps even some CoH?

Well either way I want to play WoW once more as a big group before I leave, because I think that's a lot of fun... and for the rest of the year, I'll be the only one playing alone. :(

I don't have those last two games you named, nor do I think I've ever played them as I'm only 99% sure what they are because of your acronyms! If I can get a chance to play them before the LAN I'd be up for it.

How about Warcraft III?

I'm up for mostly anything. I really don't like AoM but don't let that stop you guys from playing it.

My top game choices follow in no particular order. I have organized them for your pleasure:

RTS (Real Time Strategy)
RoN (Rise of Nations)
AoE (Age of Empires Three)
CoH (Company of Heroes)
WiC (World In Conflict) (It comes out ON the 18th, so this might not be possible)
C&C3 (Command and Conquer Three)
DoW (Dawn of War) (Dude there are like 8 races now)
Defcon!! (Dude. Let's do eet.)

TBS (Turn Based Strategy aka One-Game-Takes-All-Night Time Strategy)
CIVILIZATION FOUR BEYOND THE SWORD

FPS (First Person Shooter)
HL2 Deathmatch (Half Life 2)
UT2004 (Unreal Tournament Two Thousand and Four)
R6 Vegas (Rainbow Six Vegas)
JK2 (Jedi Knight Two)

Silly
Garry's Mod

Oh yeah, I canceled my WoW account. Not permanently, but I haven't played in a while so I figure I'll just reactivate it when I want to play again. No use paying for time I'm not using. I really don't want to WoW at the LAN, mainly because we'd pretty much have to do the Deadmines which I've done so... many... times. If you guys are high enough to try out Gnomeregan that could be fun though...

I haven't played Age of Empires or Company of Heroes.. or.. any of those RTS titles aside from Rise of Nations... but I am interested!

I would very much like to play Beyond the Sword!

What level do you need for Gnomeregan?

I want to say the final boss is 32, so an elite group (that's us!) of levels 28+ could probably do it.

Well Coffee is level 24 now, so I guess I could just try to level her a little bit between now and then.

If I manage to get the sunday after the LAN date off, I will for sure be there... if I get saturday off and not sunday off, I will try to get sunday off and for sure be there.

I haven't been to work for a few days so I don't know what my schedule is. You guys need to post for these things one more week in advance, so then I can request the time off!

I have Defcon and wouldn't be against playing that even tho I have only a couple hours experience on it.

Just a reminder: the LAN is still currently on for this Saturday, and I expect you all to be on your best behavior.

I will be out for part of this LAN, during the evening for a few hours.

Let's start on time so I can play lots of games before I leave!
